Since joining BMJ Group in 2020 during the pandemic, Ian has led a sweeping digital transformation, strengthening the organisation’s infrastructure, accelerating its adoption of cloud-based platforms, and embedding AI and automation to improve delivery. Ian has a long track record of driving innovation in research technology. At SAGE Publishing, he founded SAGE Ocean, an incubator advancing new methods for social science research using big data V体育2025版. Earlier roles include Head of Technology at eLife Sciences, Head of Product at Mendeley, and Product Manager at Nature Publishing Group. He has also consistently advocated for open science, serving on the board of Dryad and the editorial board of the Journal of Open Research Software.
A recognised thought leader on digital transformation and AI in publishing, Ian has spoken at The London Book Fair, ALPSP, STM Week, and the International Association of Scientific, Technical and Medical Publishers (STM), as well as in podcasts and webinars on the future of open research, data, and AI adoption.

Lecturer in Global Health and Social Medicine at the Harvard Medical School. I trained in otolaryngology, head and neck surgery, and microvascular reconstructive surgery. In 2011, I received a Masters in Public Health with a focus in global health, and in 2015, received my PhD in Health Policy with a focus on the science of decision making. In my academic life, I’ve authored seminal papers on the global burden of surgical disease, the financial burden facing surgical patients, and the number of people who cannot access safe surgery worldwide VSports手机版. Dr James Mountford

Dr James Mountford is Director of Quality at Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust V体育平台登录. He worked initially as an NHS doctor, then in consulting. From 2005-2007, he was a Commonwealth Fund Health Foundation Harkness Fellow based in Massachusetts General Hospital, and at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), both in Boston, USA. Before moving to the Royal Free, he was Director of Quality at UCL Partners, an academic health sciences partnership serving a population of 3 million in and around London. He sits on the board of AQuA, the improvement partnership based in north-west England. In March 2020 he was seconded to work as the Chief of Quality and Learning at the NHS Nightingale Hospital London, opened in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Professor Bryony Dean Franklin is a hospital pharmacist by background, with 30 years’ experience of research into medication safety, medication use in practice and patient safety more generally V体育官网入口. She is Co-Editor-in-Chief of BMJ Quality & Safety, Professor of Medication Safety at UCL School of Pharmacy, Executive Lead Pharmacist for Research at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, Director of the NIHR North West London Patient Safety Research Collaboration and theme lead for the NIHR Health Protection Research Unit in Healthcare Associated Infection and Antimicrobial Resistance at Imperial College London. Professor Franklin has published widely on medication safety, the evaluation of various technologies designed to reduce errors, and the patient’s role in patient safety. Her current post combines research, quality improvement, education and training, medical publishing and hospital pharmacy practice.
Shanti Raman

Shanti Raman is a Consultant Paediatrician, with sub-specialty training in Community Child Health, epidemiology and public health. She is the Director of Community Paediatrics – South Western Sydney, where she is responsible for clinical services in Child Development and Child Protection across the region, providing academic leadership and directing research and training V体育2025版. Her research and teaching interests include health of migrants and refugees, indigenous child health, child rights and child maltreatment, quality and safety in health, global maternal, newborn and child health.
