Using metabolomics and 16S rRNA sequencing, they identified links between gut microbiota and metabolic pathways after SV exposure. Editor-in-Chief Nicola Conran spotlights a compelling new article in Experimental Biology and Medicine (Vol. 250, Issue 8): “In their case study of long-term disease burden in a rural community near an open burn facility, Stephania Cormier’s team at Louisiana State University analyzed nearly two decades of hospitalization and mortality data around the last remaining U V体育安卓版. S. commercial open burning/open detonation (OB/OD) facility. They found sharply higher rates of cardiovascular and respiratory disease among local residents. This rare study underscores the need for robust methods for small, underserved populations and validates community concerns, strengthening the evidence linking burn facilities to serious health effects.
